The long horizons are starting to show up. Very rewarding. I love the simple colours of the open country. The smell of sugarcane being cut is everywhere. I saw a very large harvesting machine at work. Impressive piece of design and engineering.

I was feeling pretty good on the bike until my butt started to hurt about 4 hours in, so after that it was a lot of standing, stretching, and f’n around to get some relief for another 2 hours. Maybe my saddle is getting a bit old and squished, and may need to be changed in a few weeks.
It’s a rest day in Sarina tomorrow and we will go and see the sugar shed, dunno what they do there. I guess we will find out. I have changed the chain and re-greased the pedals because with all this dust flying, they were starting to get a bit gritty. Gave the bike a good wash too, and looking at the crank’s teeth, they still seem OK. Waxing the chain hopefully will make them last the distance.
Today it was a longer ride, and did not put on any sunscreen so the bits which were exposed got pretty burnt / brown. I have to thank the olive skin for not getting utterly cooked, but I have to remember to put sunscreen on. My legs have already got a sharp tan line which will likely last for months. So unfashionable.
Unfortunately, next week I have to bring forward the rest day for a couple of work calls. I’d rather be riding.
