Another Big Thing, in Bowen – the Mango. I did not realise we were passing opposite the Whitsundays. I could see the ocean from the road there.
The route today was fast though a bit longer than usual, on account of being quite flat. I adjusted the gearing yesterday, and the tuning paid off as I could use the big ring with the higher gears without the very annoying rubbing of the chain on the front derailleur. Not sure why I did not fix it before!
The back road deviation around Proserpine was ace, even if it was raining. Whenever I can, I leave the highway in favour of quieter roads, usually a rewarding choice. Sometimes I trade off the quietness for a few little ramps, but this one was a mild re-route and I enjoyed the descents when they came.
I left quite a few thoughts on the road today, cleaning out and getting ready to go to Townsville, then push a bit further north before the left turn. The open horizons were the prize today. I had my phone out too many times.

You should be more surprised if it wasn’t raining. Loving your updates. Also wondering how far your first days ride will be when you turn left. The Atherton tableland will be very rewarding.
Che bello quando una piccola regolazione fa una grande differenza 😉🤗
