Do you ever have that feeling as you walk out of the door that you have forgotten something? Well, I did this morning and usually it’s just my imagination. Except half an hour after I left Kempsey, I reached out for my water bottle… What bottle… Oh yes, the one(s) sitting on the bench in the van. Rightioooo. Shop stop and problem solved 2 minutes later. Thankfully (??) the temperature was still in single digits, so zero drama until I met up with Justin in Nambucca Heads for a pit stop around 70km in. The Nambucca River is awesome and very rowable.
Rest day yesterday gave me some time to plan and study the best routes towards Brisbane. I was on the highway very little today, probably only 4-5km, had an awesome gravel section around Eungai, and then was backroads and small bridges over whatever you build a bridge for, and into Coffs Harbour. Those last 15km were a bit busy and noisy, though there is a nice cycleway for a long section (beside the Giinagay Way), so not all of it feels like you are about to get run over.
I clocked around 124km and I have been thinking whether I can sustain this or not. The coming days are going to be a bit harder, to test if I can recover quickly enough. Food (on the bike) seems to be my principal concern, and upper body tiredness. I guess I will get fitter – for purpose – as the days roll on. Heading into warmer weather now, I am sure I will miss the single digit temperatures in the morning.

Yep. Le Tour riders eat each day to fuel up for the following days but you can eat whatever as you will burn it off.
Those/these views are incredible.
Laughing at the water bottle comment because. Yup. Been there so often. Very relatable feeling.
Have a good day 8, Anna
