It is cold here in the Highlands. I’m certain that, while at the moment it’s slightly annoying, I’ll miss this temperature in a couple of months.
Feels daunting to leave home for an extended period of time, though the van will become familiar soon enough.
I’ve been mostly resting my legs subconsciously knowing they’re about to get hammered day after day, in the tour of a lifetime. I’ve been visualising the ride back home, up that steep ramp in the lane before the descent to the house. I wonder how that will feel. But I’ve also wondered whether we will, or I will, in fact be able to complete it.
There are lots of reasons why it can fail. But more reasons why it can succeed, mostly because I want to, though whether it’s enough or not, is going to be tested.
The bike is ready, my mini-home for a few hours every day. I will have to tune in and learn about how much I need to drink, eat and especially how to pace myself. While I’m not trying to break any records (at least this time! 😁), I don’t intend to slouch it.
The routes for the first few days are set, but once I know what I can stretch to, or otherwise, I’ll adjust the distances.
Off to get ready to go now. Hopefully I won’t fall arse over first up at the potholes in the lane. 😂

We look forward to pics of both the 2 wheel set up and the 4 wheel set up!
Good Luck Anna and Justin. Please send photos of the bike and the truck (inside and out).
A quick Google says The Big Lap is a minimum of 15,500 kilometers. Or more than the Diameter of the Earth! https://www.themeasureofthings.com/results.php?comp=length&unit=km&amt=15500
