One thing about caravan parks; everyone seems very nice. I guess there are exceptions but so far I haven’t found them. Today I chatted with an old bloke about his electric bike. It was one of those that the kids ride, with fat tyres, that looks like a motor bike. He loves it. He has it on the back of a Scania bus which he’s converted to a motor home. Done a good job too. He says he rides the bike to the beach to fish.
Then there were the nice people who were parked next door to us and befriended Spikey Boy, or perhaps he befriended them, looking for a treat. They said they go up and down the East Coast in a van every few years and used to take their kids with them. The kids are now 30 odd but have joined them again this year, which is nice. They are from Tasmania.
We are now parked in the Caboolture Showgrounds which are not too flash, but next to us is Dianne. She lives in her van and moves around Qld a bit. She is studying Horse Husbandry. I guess she’s about 65 and has been a horse person all her life. She says when she finishes her degree she’ll ditch the van for a while. She “spotted” for me while I reversed into our parking spot. She was just setting up too. I went inside to turn some things on and when I came out she had decorated her “veranda” with a bunch of pot plants. Perhaps she means to stay here for a while.
It might be because the Queensland State Equestrian Centre backs on to the show grounds. It’s 100 acres with an 80 metre indoor dressage ring, which is in use today. There are many immaculately turned out horse and rider combos walking around.
