Day 11 – Riding through Brisbane

My navigation skills were put to the test today, and unfortunately they failed. Well, I made it to the camp about 6 hours later, so it was not a complete fail, but pretty close. At one stage, I was so lost that I ended up facing the traffic coming off the motorway on an exit ramp. I think the car drivers thought I was mad – I thought that too. F’n absent signage, though, and Strava routing! The veloway into Brisbane was handy, though I kinda took a few wrong turns there too, and then as I rode into the (mandatory) CBD, through the Botanic Gardens, it was a whole new world of getting lost. I got a bit demoralised at one stage, so I decided to lock myself in the bathroom for a while (in-house joke!), and when I came out, after a certain amount of f’n around, I finally found my way out of there.

Traffic, trucks, lights, roadworks. Another day at the office. Overall, a pretty crap ride, to be honest, but every km I ride is done and behind me, and I am already looking forward to the next one. Tomorrow is a bit like a Queen Stage before a rest day.

Bring on the noodles!

  1. Unfortunately, the sense of direction is genetic…! I am cursed with the world’s (second) least-calibrated internal compass.

  2. Può capitare di perdersi lungo il cammino, soprattutto quando si esplora qualcosa di nuovo. L’ importante è non fermarsi: ogni deviazione può diventare un’ occasione per imparare, scoprire e ripartire !!!!
