Day 3 – Riding

Better day today, shorter and less climbing, though the Pacific Highway is a bit of a challenge at times… I had an awesome stretch of bike-only path along the Fernleigh Track which is about 16km long, a bit West of Newcastle – highly recommended. I did not want it to end. Then came a super long (or so it felt) section of the PacHwy until I got to Karuah, where we are staying in a caravan park (yay!).

Bike is holding fine, but there is a lot of crap on the shoulders of the highways and I am very happy to have wide tires (40) which I run at low PSI (around 24/22). So much more confortable. I went over quite a few scattered rocks, debris and glass flint, and I was afraid they got some damage, but all seems OK, though the tread is going down fast, so I will look at changing them in a few weeks.

No road rage today, a bonus. As I got in at lunchtime, I even had time for a nap, another bonus. And bought muffins for breakfast. I need to pack better / more food for the rides – I am getting double skilled at eating sandwiches while dodging B-doubles. Ha!
