Day 4

A restful night, if a bit cold. We finished up with the wife, dog and driver all in the same bed, which improved the temp a bit and was nice. I suppose we could’ve turned on the diesel heater but….

Anna left early. She had some dramas on the way which she overcame but I’ll leave that explication to her.

Spikey Boy and I cruised around Karuah a bit. Not especially impressive but part of the Nelson Bay complex of bays and estuaries which is impressive. The mangroves reach right up to the edge of civilisation but don’t seem to encroach. I’m surprised that king tides or deep lows don’t swamp everything but apparently they don’t. 

Tonight we are staying in a paddock belonging to Christine and Paul. Christine and Anna used to row and have won a stack of State and National titles together. Both European, geeky, tough and with very high pain thresholds. Top women.
