When I said cold before, I did not mean this cold! With the windchill, it must’ve been 1-2c. I still go off in short bibs, but I am now wearing a jacket on top of long sleeves, and I was still frozen. Took me a long time to warm up, on top of feeling tired from yesterday’s longer ride and a crap meal at the pub last night. I had planned a much shorter day today, and somehow it was shorter, but not easy. Three oversize loads passed me on a narrow shoulder on the Bruce Hwy, one of them was V-shaped and was taking up the whole lane and some. I do wonder what these drivers see, though I have two bright flashing lights, and Justin (who passed me at one stage) said I am pretty visible. Nonetheless, it is a roll of the dice each time.
I put some music on with the Shokz but cannot say I enjoyed it much, even if I sang out loud at times. Middle of nowhere can do that. I think I prefer the ambient sounds, even if it’s mostly traffic noise, but occasionally, on the country roads, there are birdsong of all kinds, even lyrebirds imitating chainsaws… All in all, shorter ride, hard enough to make me feel a bit weak and guilty, hard wind for the last 30km, not quite what I had envisaged, but I guess there is no rule book.
