Day 9

There was some confusion with our very expensive caravan park in Byron Bay, which btw appears to have lost the charm it had back in the 70s and 80s – but I guess that true for a lot of us ;-). We thought the park was “pet friendly” but an officious back-packer informed me late this afternoon that no dogs are allowed. She really wanted to kick us out coz rules is rules, but in the end, she relented and we are “allowed” to stay until the morning!

Those of you who have encountered Spike know what an excellent dog he is. He has adapted to his new Gypsy life immediately. He stays near the caravan when we are camped and never needs to be tied up. He has zero intention of being more than a few metres away. When we travel he has a special place in the back seat of the truck, with which he’s very happy. At night he has taken to sleeping outside, under the van for most of the night but then he comes in at about 4.30 or 5 and, I’m afraid to say, makes his way onto my bed, which he loves – so nice and warm and so Close!! We take a long walk in the mornings and often go for an additional spin in the afternoon. Walks are the Best!

  1. Wish I could say the same about our Mac. He’s exactly the opposite to Spike and would rather a fight than a feed. Stroppy bloody Jack Russell, but we love him too.
